I finished preaching a four-night revival this evening at Millen Baptist Church. The folks in Jenkins County were very receptive, and I greatly appreciated their warmth, enthusiasm, and kindness. The church contacted me several months ago to see if I could come, and I gladly accepted their invitation. I served as their Interim Pastor back in 2000, and it was good to be with them again.
In my former journeys as an Interim Pastor, Millen Baptist Church was the second church that I served in that temporary/transitional role. I traveled each Sunday up to Millen from our home in Montgomery County, and I grew to appreciate the people and the special role this church has in this town. Many of our church members at FBC Statesboro have roots and connections to Millen & Jenkins County, and we continue to reach families living in this area. Millen Baptist Church is currently without a pastor, so let’s pray that they will follow God’s leading as He prepares the next pastor for them.
The sermons I preached during the week were as follows:
~ Sunday: Are You Ready for Revival? (Acts 1 – 2)
~ Monday: The Most Important Question [Who is Jesus?] (Matt 16)
~ Tuesday: The Old Rugged Cross (John 19)
~ Wednesday: Mistakes Church Members Make (Acts 5)
Every service had some of our church members from Statesboro in attendance, and I greatly appreciated the effort some of you showed in being at the services in Millen. It was good indeed to see some ‘home folks’ as I preached. The revival went well, and there was a good spirit in all of the services. I pray that God will continue His work in Millen Baptist Church, and that their best days are still to come.
